2026 Middle School Basketball Newsletters

  • Notes

I started my second season of coaching middle school basketball not too long ago, and Coach Reeve, our head coach, began writing these newsletters after each one of our games. I think they’re amazing, and I thought I’d collect them all here for posterity’s sake.

My only contribution is the photos of the boys plus some technical assistance for the sexagenarian Coach Reeve 😂

Season Opener

Charlo Middle School Vikings boys basketball season preview newsletter for 2026. The headline reads ‘Viking Basketball’ with Viking logos. The article introduces head coach Jim Reeve and assistant coach Mario Villalobos and describes the team’s preparation and focus on fundamentals and defense. Below is a team photo of eleven players in navy Viking uniforms standing and kneling in a gym. A roster lists player numbers, names, and heights, including Ray Evans, Wyatt Clark, Seth Sinclair, Kaid Sinclair, Blaze Beck, Nehemiah Rangel, Coen Cahoon, James Shrider, Rhory Reynolds, Mika Smith, and Clem Cole. A feature photo on the right shows Ray Evans holding a basketball with the caption ‘Ray is Ready.’

Arlee Jamboree

It highlights player performances including Ray Evans, Kaid Sinclair, Seth Sinclair, Mika Smith, James Shrider, Rhory Reynolds, Nehemiah Rangel, Blaze Beck, Wyatt Clark, and Clem Cole. A second headline reads ‘Cahoon pours in 15 points against Warriors,’ describing Coen Cahoon’s scoring performance against Arlee. On the right is a photo of Coen Cahoon shooting a basketball in a game with the caption ‘Coen scores!’

Home versus Mission

Graphic titled “Viking Basketball” with Viking logos at the top and a headline reading “Vikes sweep Dogs!” Below is a newspaper-style article describing two intense middle school basketball wins by the Charlo Vikings over the Bulldogs. At the bottom are two photos of players: on the left, two boys in dark jerseys labeled “Mika and Clem,” one holding a basketball while the other rides on his back; on the right, two boys in white Charlo jerseys holding basketballs, labeled “Rhory and James.” Vertical text between the photos reads “VIKINGS.”

Hot Springs Jamboree

Viking Basketball newsletter-style graphic from Charlo Middle School, Home of the Vikings. The main headline reads “Young Vikes Too Much for Hot Springs in Jamboree.” Below is a detailed article describing Charlo’s middle school basketball team winning their opening game against Hot Springs, highlighting strong defense and scoring performances by Mika Smith, Rhory Reynolds, and Coen Cahoon. A second bold headline reads “Cole and Company Tame Tigers!” followed by an article recapping a dominant win over the St. Regis Tigers, featuring Clem Cole’s standout performance with a double-double.
